It is just over a month since finishing the 1500km/year challenged and I am far from bored! Now that I am not entirely focused on getting those kilometers done, I have so much time left. Though I have already been going to the gym for weightlifting and picking up the running, I feel really pushing through on those areas during my more relaxed weekends. Also, I added rugby training to my repertoire! Soon I will have games on sundays, which is now possible without the almost mandatory hiking. I am thrilled to start rugby again after a break of over a year. I miss the adrenaline, chasing ball carrying opponents for a tackle, and maybe most of all I miss the social context which I had not at all while hiking.
Despite I am happy focusing on other sports, I still like to go hiking. Now that it is so normal to take a train for a hike, I continue this habit whenever I want to. There is no ‘Must’ anymore, only ‘can do's’. Unfortunately I do know most of the areas close to home already quite good, there are plenty of new hikes to discover but only within the already known nature parks. Being reliant on public transport is quite annoying as I don't even have to go far but it will cost me more time on traveling than on the actual hiking. Despite the lack of exploring new things, I still manage to reach the ‘zen zone’, the zone in which I am relaxed and with all my worries and excitements ordered nicely instead of chaotically floating around.
In the months to come I will focus more on rugby and my running, I would like to go for my first half marathon in fall 2020! I hope to increase my fitness tremendously, thereby being able to hike many kilometers on some long weekends without the weekly hike sessions. There are still many places I would like to hike, for a starter to finish the Mullerthal trail! But the Kungsleden in Sweden or the coast trail in Scotland are definately on my list as well. All those plans and changes makes me incredible excited about all that is coming!
Hikeon!
